In 1941 the mine had about 35 employees and a production of approximately 350 tons a day. The average price of coal was $4.00 per ton at the mine. The mine had a double main shaft and an air shaft, each about 200 feet deep. Equipment consisted of two boilers, hoisting engine, three electric generators, tipple and screening plant, ventilation fan, truck seale on top. Below were two Sullivan cutting machines, a Goodman gathering locomotive, coal cars (boxes), trackage pumps and other misc. equipment. What seems amazing today was the mine was built with an initial capital investment of $4,000 and 60,000 man hours of "sweat equity," but those were the depression years.
