In December of 2001, I along with some friends from the WWII Victory ship Red Oak Victory went out to the mothball fleet in Suisun Bay to salvage parts from the last few remaining WWII Victory ships. Moored alongside these 7 ships is the 1158. I got to walk upon her main deck and at that point felt that she would be worth trying to save for use as a memorial ship to all those who served upon her decks as well as Viet Nam veterans.

I am trying to get some interest from people and organizations that my be interested in helping to save her before it is too late. I am contacting as many people as I can to find out if they may be interested in helping me with this endeavor. Best wishes and may peace be with you.
Respectfully,
